Volunteer at R&R Ranch AZ

Our volunteers are essential to our programs! Whether you have a background in helping with people, helping with horses, helping with the earth, or all of the above, we appreciate everyone who contributes to our mission here, no matter how much or how long!
All R & R Ranch volunteers must start with the following requirements:
- Dependable, punctual and of good character
- Able to accept directions from supervisors
- Able to communicate job concerns to supervisor in timely and appropriate manner
- Able to travel to R&R Ranch AZ at least once a week
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Minimum three month commitment
Ranch Hand Volunteers:
Volunteers around the ranch help with turning out horses, grooming horses, cleaning up barn and tack areas, cleaning up turnouts and water dispensers for all animals, caring for and cleaning the garden area and chicken coop.
Ranch hands must have mornings available to volunteer for at least 2 hours at a time and be willing to do any of the above chores. We provide training and orientation to the horses and the facility.
Instructor Assistant Volunteers:
All volunteer instructor assistants must be comfortable providing emotional support and encouragement to our students. They must be able to handle lesson horses on the ground. They must be able to supervise and assist students in lessons and keep a close eye on large groups.
Requirements for our volunteer instructor assistants:
- Ability to provide physical assistance to children and adults
- Emotional and psychological stability
- Outgoing personality; ability to support and encourage others
- At least 1 year’s experience working around horses
- Verifiable knowledge of horse behavior and safe techniques
- Reference are required
All Instructor Assistants must volunteer for at least one day a week for 4 hours at minimum. All volunteers for this position MUST be reliable and punctual as our students depend on them for their lessons. Our lessons are on Wednesday and Saturday, times will vary. There will be mandatory training sessions before each lesson season.
